Family Drive-In

This was a drive-in theater that was in the far corner of town, just up the road and to the left of the high school, I think. I was just kid when I was taken there so I don’t remember much, other than it was there. I remember that the screen sat against the woods.

By 1955, it had been renamed Family Drive-In.

THE CHARLESTON DRIVE IN in 1956 parked 275 cars and was owned by E.L. ORNSTEIN , a man that owned several Drive ins in your State.

The property that the drive-in stood on is still recognizable on Google Maps. It’s on the north edge of town off of SR 3/Market Street and is still obvious by its triangular shape and the rows where the cars parked.
