The Dixie Theatre, owned by E. N. Hirsch, operated from about 1915, possibly earlier, on 26th Avenue in Gulfport. An ad for the Dixie Theatre in early-1920 boasts that it was electrically cooled in large, bold letters.

It closed in 1920 after his new theatre which was built next door to the Dixie Theatre was opened with great fanfare.

That new theatre that was opened was the elegant Strand Theatre, later to become the Paramount in the 1930’s.
