All boarded up now, looks rather shabby. Interesting – the entrance is on one street, goes back and wraps to the right a little before connecting to the auditorium which is around the corner on another street. The buildings along the corner have been demolished so you can see the lobby wrapping around to the auditorium.

The Imperial opened in 1914 and was operated by Warner Theatre from as early as 1920 until its closing in 1954. Initial seating was listed at 1200. I am sure Ed Banks can fill in more detail on the Imperial, he is the Philly expert. There was also a second Imperial on N. 2nd St. that was operated by Warner.
Here is a photo circa 1945 from the Irvin Glazer theater collection. Looking at the map photo there is a sign on the front of the building, but I can’t make out what it says. Perhaps the building is for sale.
