The Plaza Cinema opened on 28th December 1934 with Bing Crosby in “We’re Not Dressing” and Shirley Temple in “Little Miss Marker”. It was independently operated, and was closed in December 1975.
In 1979, the foyer was converted into retail use. In 2010, the foyer is still in retail use by a mens clothing store named Gaz Man (it had previously been a Just Jeans store), and the auditorium is in use as a gym. Apparently above the false ceilings there are the original decorative details.

Final screening was Saturday December 20, 1975 with the double feature “Fists Of Fury” and “The Chinese Connection”. Following closure, the circle level was extended to the proscenium to accommodate a gymnasium.
