The August 7, 1940 issue of The Exhibitor reported, “The Merrimack Park Drive-In is expected to open early this month. It is equipped with over 300 sound horns, in place of the solitary loud-speaker that neighbors complained about.”

There are photos on several site/comment pages, the LOEWS JERSEY for instance has several photos on its comments pages.

That’s interesting Ron. The earliset entry I found in the business directories was for 1956. It must’ve been constructed years before that then. Thanks

The Merrimack Park closed around 1985. I worked there as a projectionist filling in on occasion in 1982 and 83.

The Merrimac Park Drive-In in Methuen MA is listed under E.M. Loew’s Theatres in the “Theatre Circuits” guide in the 1942-43 Motion Picture Almanac.
