The theater was opened by R/C Cinemas in 2001, with the hopes that it would help save the Pinellas Square/ParkSide Mall. It didn’t and the mall was completely demolished. It seems the theater briefly closed as well, only to be purchased by Regal in 2005 and subsequently reopened. The theater is the only thing left from the original mall, though the whole property has been redeveloped.

Please forgive me, I know this is off topic, but it’s so close I’ve just got to mention it, it’s just accross the street and a bit southeast of these theaters. If you like trains like I do, or even if you dont’t the #2 train store in the USA is waiting for you (they even have an outdoor track) it’s really a fun place to see!

On a side note, before this theater was built there was an old AMC Tri-Screen Threater located in the old Pinellas Square Mall(the original name of the Parkside Mall) from 1977-1999.
