The Rio on the cover of the book "Cinemental Journeys"

“The exterior of the Rio Theatre is so beautiful that we chose it for the cover of this book” say authors Mike and Vicki Walker on page 65 of their 2007 work “Cinemental Journeys: An Uncommon Guide to Classic Movie Theaters – Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska”.

In March 2022 I looked up a few of the book’s entries on Cinema Treasures and most were still listed as being “Open (Showing movies)”.

After taking the photo above, I donated this copy of the book to O Cinema South Beach, where it may be on the bookshelves of their auditorium.
