The Pines Drive-In located in Tifton, Georgia was typical of your small town drive-ins. Typical summer bill would mostly be a good western, about the same as most drive-ins in the era, a quick game of Bingo and a feature.
Heading to Florida, you can’t miss Tifton. I-75 runs right down the middle. The Pines Drive-In, in 1956 was putting 300 cars on the lot and like so many theatres in Georgia it was a Martin Theatre operation. Don’t know when it closed so I hope others will help with the history of this South Georgia drive-in.

Wish I did Mike, keep them coming.
I have been sitting down and trying to remember every theatre in Georgia i have visited, took pictures and get on CT.so many small towns left to do.I know you have hundreds just in Middle Tenn.I would like Nick to put them on,but he is so busy with his Tampa theatres.I guess you saw Robin’s post on National Hills.
No I did not see Robins post on National Hills but I will look.By the way we are off-topic Chuck and Patsy may get us for that for not using our e-mail did you see that?So speaking of the Pine Drive-in I know nothing of it,there I am back on topic.
Well, yeah, but 95% of our talking is about cinemas not the how well the Braves are doing.
In the Drive-Almanc this is listed as the Pines Drive-In. The 300 car Pines Drive-In was in operation in the mid-1950’s. Martin Theatres operated the drive-in thru 1964 but after that the owner is not listed. It continued operation through the mid-1970’s. No exact closing date given.
Thanks,Chuck1231.
CORRECT NAME IS:
pineS.
Anyone have photos or an address?
I THINK it opened ABOUT 1950?
It was still open in 1967 and was still owned by Martin Theaters of Georgia and Alabama, Incorpoated of Columbus, Georgia.
I understand that the Interstate Hiway System first started in Tifton.
Approx. location for this drive-in was U.S. 82 & Marshall Dr.
Marshall Dr. runs through where the drive-in stood. some ramps are still visible to the east of this.
