Does anyone know if this location was initially designed to be a Cobb theater? I know it opened as a Regal in 1999 and Cobb merger closed in 1997, but a friend who is an expert on the subject says that the construction looks very much like a Cobb. It is possible it was in development already when the merger closed.

Mike that is so true! I went to this theater over Christmas with my sister, and it was something else in there. I felt sorry for the kids working there.

sorta got a kick out of the Whine Line in the METRO SPIRIT,someone called and complained “young gangsters are taking over the 20 plex”.What,I bet they slid thru one of the many Exit doors,A young Gangster buy a ticket?

YEP,you got out in on the tail end of the real Theatre business.Promotions like Zack liked would be laughed at Today.I remember dressing up like the Marx Brothers to run around the Late Show crowd waiting to see “DUCK SOUP"tied a big Camel on my car to promote "HAAWPS”.Not done today.

I hate this theater. Way too big. The concession stand is HUGE and is about the slowest in town! The type of folks that come to this one seem to have no manners…talk during the movie and, of course, turn on their stupid cellphones that light up like a beacon, which distracts everyone around them! Course, to be fair, that happens at all the theaters nowadays.

Just what everybody needs…another generic twenty screen empty theatre showing the same stuff all the other empty multi-screens are showing.

They have the opening date wrong. Summer of 1999 I lived in that small row of duplexes behind the BP in front of the mall, and would often walk over to the old Exchange 12 theater, they were still showing first run movies there. I am pretty sure this theater opened in November of 1999.

I don’t think this cinema has Twenty one screens. They put the IMAX in an existing theatre,Not that I care. I wasn’t impressed with Imax, just another way to get an extra three bucks from a dumb public.

Thanks Alonzo but this is very old news and the Regal 12 has been gutted by Regal Cinemas.

Regal Cinemas plans to open its 20-screen movie theater at the Augusta Exchange shopping center.

It is the next big project to open at the steadily expanding retail center.

The 84,000-square-foot theater will include a cafe, serving gourmet coffees, juices, muffins and ice cream, and a video arcade. Ticket prices have not yet been disclosed.

Regal marketing coordinator Robbie Arrington said that ticket prices should be about the same as they are at Regal 12, the other local theater at the Augusta West Parkway shopping center.
