Charro Drive-in screen

The 550 car Charro Drive-In opened in 1949. Closed for a short time between 1970 and 1972. Played adult movies between 1973 and 1975. It had gone back to feature films by 1979, but closed soon after.

It was demolished and a Builders Square was built on the site. That has also closed.

Was originally operated by Claude Ezell & Associates Inc. and later by Publix.

Architected by Harvey A. Jordan, the Charro Drive-In launched November 4, 1949 with John Wayne’s “The Sea Spoilers” on its 40x55 foot screen. Closing date above is incorrect as the theatre operated past that date.

Definitely was open until at least at least 1979. I saw “Love at First Bite” with George Hamilton (1979) there.
