Opened(as 67 Drive-in) with “Greenwich Village” and “Lady in the death house”. Name changed to Maywood Open Air four days later. Renamed Maywood Drive-in in 1949. Name changed to Bel Air Drive-in in 1953. Closed in 1981. Site is now Bel Aire Park.

I grew up living in the neighborhood across from this theatre. I would be interested to know if anyone has any quality resolution photos of the marquee or perhaps better quality images of newspaper ads or photos of the Bel Air Drive-in / Maywood Drive-in? thank you

This opened as the No. 67 Drive-in on June 22nd, 1945 and renamed Maywood Drive-In in 1946. Renamed Bell-Air Drive-In on April 30th, 1953 and closed down after the 1980 season. 1945 and 1953 grand opening ads in the photo section.

The address for the Bel Air Drive-In was 2849 Kentucky Ave. When the drive-in opened it was known as the Maywood Drive-In.

I can remember the Bel Air Drive-In in 1953. All the teenagers thought this was the neighborhood hot spot. Every once in a while, we would hear about some of these teenager wandering off to the nearby gravel pit and drowning. So sad, but true.
