The Fort Rock Drive-In was located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, today a surburb of Charlotte, N.C. In the late-1950’s it was owned by Bob Jefferies and parked 200 cars. By the 1970’s it was called the Ft-Roc Drive-In and reduced to drive-in fare such as "Bloodthirsty Butchers" and "Torture Dungeon" both of course Rated R.

The Fort Roc Drive-In located on North Cherry Road or Hwy 21 North just before getting to the Catawba River. The name came from being halfway between Rock Hill and Fort Mill, SC. After the theatres took most of the business the Fort Rock became a X-Rated drive-in.
The was also known as the Roc Drive-In.

Fort Rock or Roc or Ft Roc…. Guess it depends on which letters fell off the marquee.
Some photoplay ads re3ad Fort Rock Drive-In, Some read Ft. Roc and some read Roc Drive-In, I don’t think it had anything to do with what letters fell off the marquee.
Great picture! Thanks so much for putting it on Chuck.
Approx. address fro this drive-in was 2885 Cherry Road.
