I must correct an error in my post above of 4/30/12 at 7:04am. The name first used in advertising and publicity was Brookside On the Lake Drive-In Theatre (not By the Lake).

This first opened on Friday night, May 5th, 1950, with the rather cumbersome name of Brookside By the Lake Drive-In Theatre, but within months “By the Lake” was dropped. The premiere booking was a double bill of 1948-49 Eagle-Lion releases: “Tulsa,” in Technicolor with Susan Hayward and Robert Preston, and the B&W Abbott & Costello comedy, “The Noose Hangs High.” The adult admission price for Monday-Thursday was 50 cents, rising to 60 cents on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Children under 12 were admitted free at all times. On opening night only, adults were entitled to a free hot dog, soft drink, and bag of popcorn in the Refreshment Pavilion.
