I remember the GCC well….saw some great 80’s classics in that theatre. Movies seemed better when I was young…today they just seem boring. I will definitely check out that GCC sign and see if it’s still there near the railroad tracks. I was thinking it was closer to the corner entrance. (BofA there now at that corner.)Once the new shopping center opened on the opposite side of 249 that was the nail in the coffin for all the nearby theatres. The commons AMC across the street was a cool place to watch them too. You never know what you have until you miss it…the good ol' days…:)

AMC did not operate this theatre long as they had the Willowbrook 10 theatre across the street in The Commons shopping center (which was just demolished for an Academy Sporting Goods store). The Willobrook 6 GCC sign, although painted black, still is standing at the far end of the mall on FM1960 near the railroad tracks.

A Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) store has just opened in the space that used to be this theater. Have not been there, but I would imagine pretty much any trace of this being a theater is gone. The lobby doors were outside the mall adjacent to the main entrance leading into the food court.

scottneff-It’s been about 20 years since I was at this theater so I am operating from memory. I recall the cinema being located adjacent to where the food court is today in the mall. The 1156 in your address refers to a store location in the mall. That address now belongs to a store called Imaginations which is currently at that spot in the mall. I believe this was originally a GCC theater which was taken over by AMC when GCC went bankrupt in the late 1990’s. It was closed shortly after when AMC opened it’s 24 multiplex nearby.

Can anybody shed some light — somehow at Cinematour we found an address for the AMC Willowbrook 6 at 1156 FM-1960 which puts it nearly back at I-45.

Obviously the Willowbrook 6 wouldn’t be that far back and it makes sense for it to be at the Willowbrook mall but our research shows that the Willowbrook Mall had a General Cinema (at some point). Was the GCC and the AMC the same theatre? Does anybody know why we may have had information that 1156 FM-1960 is the address?
