Operators, Roth Theatres, Loew’s Theatres, Sony Theatre Management and Regal Entertainment who closed it in 2000. Charlottesville had a good number of theatres for a city of 42,000.
Thanks Chuck.
The information we have at Cinematour suggests that R/C Theatres and Regal Cinemas also operated it.
Scott, I looked at Cinerma Tour and the only thing they list for this theatre is the name, address and closed. R/C I believe is Roth Theatres, and isn’t Regal Entertainment and Regal Cinemas the same?
Technically. Regal Entertainment Group owns Regal Cinemas, Edwards Theatres and UA. Chronologically speaking, Regal Cinemas came before Regal Entertainment Group. I tried to find the history piece I read on it, but Wiki seems to have more on Regal Entertainment Group.
The Greenbrier operated as a discount theater for a short time near the end of its life. I believe it was associated with the Regal chain during that period.
I remember seeing a good number of Columbia and Tri-Star pictures here in the 90s, Last Action Hero and The Professional among them.
They had some of the most uncomfortable seats in Charlottesville, but what I wouldn’t do to sit in them again.
