Spotted this closed-up theatre in a Winnsboro, S.C. newspaper. A politican was thanking voters on the marquee. The theatre looked long closed.

Mike, are you sure this theatre was located in Winnsboro? I can find info on the Carolina, Fairfield, Palmetto and the Playhouse in Winnsboro but nothing on the Midland. Could it have been in a neighboring town and advertising in the Winnsboro newspaper?
Boy,Chuck I was so afraid of that.It most likely was.I assumed Wrong again.why can’t newspaper editors catch captions such as what I saw and have “such and such is thanking voters on the old Midland Theatre in such and such city”.It had to be somewhere in the Winnsboro area.
Mike, that is why I don’t add a theatre without an address. Now we have a theatre that wasn’t in Winnsboro and don’t know where it was located.
This may help (or perhaps even make the situation murkier). According to the Rivest List for northern South Carolina, there was a very short-lived Midland Theater in Camden, SC, which is about thirty miles southeast of Winnsboro. If the Rivest data is correct, it lasted for a brief time around 2000.
But perhaps complicating the issue is the fact that certain online search results indicate that a either a theater or a theater company called Midland Theatres, Inc, is or was located in Camden SC at 1107 Windsor Drive. However, Google street view shows the area to be residential.
Confusing the issue further, is the fact that some directory entries indicate that 1107 Windsor Drive is the address for the Little Theater, a small, still-functioning twin theater. I think, though this is erroneous as the Little Theater has an entry here on CT /theaters/22484/ which locates it at 506 DeKalb St., as other online directory entries do.
Thanks Chris, I did a internet search on both google and bing but to no avail for a Midland Theatre. I sent Pat Poland an email since she is the guru for South Carolina theatres but she knew nothing about it. Well it is up there so amybe someone will come along a know more about it and fill in the blanks.
When i was going throught the Archives I should have jotted down the issue in the Herald, but didn’t. I asummed it was a theatre in downtown Winnsboro.
For what it is worth the Marquee looked new compared to the Theatre.
