Albano's 9W Drive-In

Albano’s 9W Drive-In opened on July 20, 1956 with Fess Parker in “The Great Locomotive Chase” & Van Heflin in “Count Three and Pray”. It was closed on September 24, 1962. It had room for 600 cars. The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk middle and high schools are now located on the land. The schools still use the drive-in’s marquee as their sign.

Hoping to find the owners in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac, but the Drive-in had not been added.

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

2025 Route 9W

2085 is a bit off. The new address puts it at the Ravena Senior High School, which uses the Drive-In’s Marquee as their sign.

AKA:

9W Drive-In Theater

Opened July 20, 1956, showed THE GREAT LOCAMOTIVE CHASE, COUNT THREE AND PRAY & Comedy Cartoon.

Owned by Sylvester Albano & Sons.

Had a Curved Screen.

Had space for only 400 cars opening night because the rest of the construction was not done.

Open ~1975? Can anyone verify the exact dates?

More info and photos are always welcome.

The drive-ins marquee appears to have been removed after checking Google Street View from September of 2016.

Was the angled part of the screen at the bottom part of the screen used for the movie screenings too?
