Theatre Royal

Located in the small town of Lithgow in the beautiful Blue Mountains region to the northwest of Sydney. The Theatre Royal was built as a live theatre, opening possibly in the 1920’s. In 1926-1927 it was reconstructed to the plans of architect Henry Eli White.

By 1946 it was operating as the Royal Cinema by the Lithgow Amusements Co.

In 1991 it was converted into a nightclub. This had closed by February 2004. The closed building was ‘For Sale’ in 2019.

Extensively reconstructed in 1926-7, designed by Henry Eli White, facade dates from this work. Became nightclub in 1991, building for sale in 2019. see https://www.lithgowmercury.com.au/story/5200745/lithgow-history-the-past-leading-lady-of-cinema-theatres/
