Palatine Picture House

Located in Withington, south of Manchester. The Palatine Picture House and Cafe was opened in 1920. The auditorium ran parallel to Palatine Road, with the entrance on the right hand side. A ground floor cafe was included in the design, which proved very popular.

By the late-1930’s it had been taken over by the H.D. Moorhouse Circuit. The Palatine Picture House was closed on 26th March 1960 with Ted Ray in “Please Turn Over” and Conrad Phillips in “The Desperate Man”. The building was empty and unused for some time before it was demolished in the early-1990’s for housing.
