As a kid growing up in Logansport in the early 1950s, the Roxy was the go-to destination for all B-western fans, serial fans, and true devotees of Judy Canova, Eddie Dean and many other lesser Hollywood lights. My mother considered the place a dump and ‘den of sin’ during those years and ordered me never to set foot in the place. I, of course, needing a ‘Commando Cody’ or Gene Autry fix, would fib to her and say I was going to the (socially acceptable) State theater, nearby. Never got caught.
