A twin theater located in a suburban shopping center off Camden Avenue in San Jose’s Cambrian district, the Cambrian opened in the early 1970’s showing mainstream double features and operated by National General Cinemas. A new operator took over in 1974 and the theaters showed pornographic fare from 1974 to the mid-1980’s.

A gym now occupies the space of this theater.

The twins were also briefly known as the Hillsdale I & II, and the Cambrian Park I & II.

Also, second-run films returned for a very short period after the porn fare was discontinued. And it was one of the area theaters which ran Friday and Saturday midnight showings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
