An October 1908 report in the Spokane Daily Chronicle said that construction had started in Sandpoint on a new theatre. A. McKenzie and F. O’Grady were to be the proprietors. A theatre and skating rink is listed on the Sanborn Insurance Maps of 1909 at this location and by 1921 it was labeled the Liberty Theatre.

The Spokane Spokesman-Review reported on December 6, 1918, that Thomas Martin, owner of the Liberty Theatre, was among the missing members of the American army in France. It was also noted that Mr. Martin was a prominent businessman. Fortunately for Mr. Martin, after the war his name (if it is the same Thomas Martin) pops up regularly in the news of Sandpoint.

The size of the theatre can only be estimated. When prominent United States Senator Borah addressed a crowd at the theatre in 1920, it was said attendance was over 500. The last time the Liberty Theatre was mentioned in the news was in March of 1928 and the maps of 1948 show the theater demolished.
