The Plains Drive-In opened on April 10, 1951 with Randolph Scott in “The Nevadan” & Stanley Clements in “Military Academy with That Tenth Avenue Gange”. The car capacity was 350 cars. The drive-in was still open in the mid-1970’s.

The obituary for Vonda Gillham Carter of Fort Collins said in part that “She lived in Sidney, Neb. from 1950 until 1962 where the family owned and operated the Plains Drive-In Theatre.”
Boxoffice, Feb. 17, 1951: “Don Gillman and Robert Carter, both of Sidney, Neb., will have their 350-car $50,000 drive-in, the Plains, ready for opening in April.”
