Strand Cinema Theatre

We lived close to the Strand. There were three bombs, the first fell in our garden between Sidney and Sussex Street, the next fell on the Strand Cinema in Park Street, the next on dwellings and shops on Cleethorpe Road. I was 9 years old and we all got put of the badly damaged house where we had been sheltering under the stairs. Climbing over the wall I saw glowing houses falling down in Sidney Street and we went to a friend in Sussex Street. I fell asleep on the floor. We had to leave that house because it was badly damaged and unsafe, but we were lucky to be alive. It was an unforgettable night.
