Rosemount Gardens

The first Rosemount Gardens opened in 1920 next to the Rosemount Hotel on the other side of Fitzgerald Street, on a site leased from the hotel. The first Gardens had 1,100 seats. When the lease run out(1949, or early-1950’s?)the gardens closed and the hotel bar extended onto the site. The second Rosemount Gardens was built at 360 Fitzgerald Street. The gardens closed in 1960. The front of the gardens is still there, it is now a mechanics yard(name unknown).

The Rosemount Hotel(where the first Rosemount Picture Gardens was next to the hotel) is still there on the corner of Fitzgerald Street and Angove Street.

The side and back fences and the yard area behind the front facade may be original too?
