St. Mary’s Church building was built in 1848/9 and, for a short period, was a silent movie house. From June 1, 1920 to January 22, 1922, the Temple Theatre operated in the location. The theatre’s last screening was “Desert Blossoms” before being converted to an antique furniture and second hand store. The historic building was razed in 1935 for a Sinclair gas station.
