Lowes is a hardware co. Loew’s was the Theatre Co.
The real sad commentary was that Lowes tore down the really nice drive in (5 screens if I recall correctly) that was on the site so as to build this complex.
I installed the projection equipment in this theatre in October 1999 using over 2000 zip ties. In march of 2001, i cut out over 2000 zip ties. Maybe I should have used Velcro? This theatre was actually much nicer than Destinta, but the location, unruly moviegoers, the unskilled “projectionists” and the “New York” attitude of Loews guaranteed few return customers.
Check out their Facebook page – fascinating – it looks like they’ve half-gutted the theatre with venders popping up all over the corridors and lobbies, almost something out of the third world.

An inglorious fate for what should have been a great cinema.
Simply put over screening in many medium size cities to larger ones.Pure greed.

It’s called www.rossi'spopupmarketplace.com
Paul, I believe you are correct.
I think it’s now something called “Rossi’s Buyer’s Depot”.
It seems that Pittsburgh is a dead market.
I know tlsloews. I was here the week it opened.
Hard to believe this theatre only lasted a little over a year.
Now that I think about it, wasn’t this place down the road from the drive-in? I’m beginning to think it wasn’t on the same site.
Does anyone have any recent photos of the interior and/or exterior they could post?
I can remember when this place first opened. My brother and I drove out here during the opening week. That was the only time I was ever at this theatre, although I’d been to the drive-in when I was a teenager. I honestly believe that the drive-in was a lot more fun.
It was a huge miscalculation to build this place. I wonder if the drive-in would still be in business today if it wasn’t bulldozed to build this hulk.
I can take a picture of the buliding this week sometime.
Yet another good article

Does anybody have photos of this place or know of any photos? I’d like to see what it looked like when it was in business and as it is now.
Nothing of value remains – most everything was distroyed by previous tenants & vandals.
What architectural elements (screens, curtains, concession stands, etc.), if any, remain from the space’s movie theatre days, gmad?
As of April 2005, this theater complex has been re-opened as an inside market place with an outdoor “Flea Market” type operation in the rear. It is open every Saturday & Sunday rain or shine from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
Any word on what has happened to this theatre recently, or to the land it sits on? Is it sitting vacant, or has it been demolished?
Architect needs to be updated to “David Rockwell/Rockwell Group.”
