Crescent Cinema

Located in the Manchester inner-city district of Hulme. The Chapman Street Picture House was situated on Chapman Street, later renamed Cossack Street. It was opened in 1912. By 1914 it had been re-named Crescent Cinema Theatre and was equipped with a Picturetone sound system. By 1927 it was known as the Crescent Cinema. By 1944 it was operated by the James Brennan Cinemas circuit.

It was closed in 5th June 1965 with Kirk Morris in “The Slave Merchants” & Lex Barker in “Winnetou the Warrior”. The building was demolished in the wide-sweeping regeneration of the area, and the street no longer exists.
