Located at the Swan Shopping Centre, it was originally opened as the three-screen Swan Omniplex in 2009 at a cost of €3 million; a fourth screen, costing €1 million, opened in December 2012.
On 14 September 2014, it was replaced by a new 8-screen Omniplex, which encompassed the old Swan cinema and had been extended over the first floor of the shopping centre. The upgrade, refurbishment, and enhancement cost, it is said, the bones of €8 million.
According to Scannain.com (14 September 2014), it had 1,519 seats in total, the largest of which was Dublin’s first OmniplexMAXX (giant format screen), which can hold 258. The seating capactity breakdown for screens 1 to 8 was given as - 258, 194, 189, 97, 178, 227, 163 and 213. Leather rocker seats have been fitted into every screen, with all four of the old Swan Cinema screens being completely refurbished as part of the upgrade.
