Bahnhof Theater

Located in the Mitte district in the southeast of the city centre. The Barkhof Theater was opened by 1910 when in was screening movies. In 1929 it was equipped for sound. It was re-named Schauburg am Hauptbahnhof due to its close location to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (Hamburg Railway Station). It was damaged by allied bombs in 1943 and was demolished.

A new cinema named Die Barke was built on the site in 1952, which had its entrance on Monkebergstrasse. (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
