Located in the south of the city centre. The Teatro Progreso was opened on 10th December 1932. Seating was provided in orchestra, balcony and second balcony levels. On 27th January 1933 it began screening films and was re-named Cine Progreso. The opening film was MGM’s “The Champ” with Wallace Beery. There was also some use of the stage. In the 1980’s it was operating as the Teatro Palacio del Progreso. On 17th December 1987 it was re-named Teatro Nuevo Apolo.
