Built and opened in 1939 as the Savoy Cinema (Kosovo Cinema). It was housed in two separate buildings. It was re-named National Theatre in 1945 and presented opera & ballet performances. In March 2020 it was designated one of 7 most endangered European monuments. On 15th May 2020 it was demolished, despite crowds of protesters (many of whom were arrested).
