The Royal Theatre was opened by 1914, located on S. Main Street at Henry Street. The 1920 Sanborn shows ‘Motion Pictures’ operating in a small wooden structure in a block of older less substantial structures on the edge of downtown.
The building was a basic one-story rectangle, which was constructed before 1893 as a store. On the 1911 map, it is a paint and wallpaper store.
The structures south of the intersection were removed long ago, and the space is currently occupied by a modest mid-century building and parking lot.
