Beemer Opera House

The first regular place that Beemer watched movies was in its opera house which appears to have opened in 1894 with live events The road show motion pictures started in 1910 and proved so successful that regular motion pictures played at the Beemer Opera House from 1911 to 1923.

The final motion picture show was June 30, 1923 which may have been the film, “The Man Trackers,” supported by the comedy short, “You and Me” starring the Century Comedy Kids. After having no movie theatre for two years, the Gem Theatre became the town’s main motion picture house two years later with the Opera House continuing with live events throughout the decade of the 1920’s.

According to documents, the Opera House appears to have been still standing in the 21st Century.
