Opening in late-1912 the Empress Theater featured movies and vaudeville. Mr. Johnson was the first manager. The theater was subsequently sold to a Mr. Severns who also purchased the Crescent Theatre. There is much conflicting information concerning the dates of sales, change of management and even the correct spelling of names but it’s existence is a certainty.

I saw one mention that there were two short lived theaters in Holdrege: the Gay and the Edison.
