Pine Hills Drive-In

The Pine Hills Drive-In opened on June 25, 1953 screening the 1953 drama “Titanic” with Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck, plus three color cartoons. The new airer was opened by Fred M. Adams, president, and James F. Hussey, secretary-treasurer dba Pine Hills Drive-In Theater, Inc., associated with them is Carl Floyd dba Floyd Theatres. Hussey is also the concession manager and Billy Wilson was the manager of the new airer. Hussey died on February 18, 1969. Car capacity was 600 cars with RCA in-a-car speakers along with the 45 ft. X 62 ft. Magnascopic Screen aka CinemaScope Screen. Starting in December of 1975, the Pine Hills Drive-In and the Movieland Drive-In were the locations of Preston Henn’s Swap Shop - Flea Markets. Floyd Theatres closed down the Pine Hills on November 1, 1987. The last movies to be screened were “Halloween”, “Witchboard” and “Dead Time Stories”.

The property is now the Westside Crossing Shopping Center.
