Congrats to Goff's Theatre

Goff hosted shows in July 1938 (perhaps earlier) with comedians, vaudeville, etc. in a tent. He started showing movies in the tent as Goff’s Tent Theatre July 13, 1942 with movies showing all week. It was reported on August 13, 1942 there plans to put show in the Slay building next to Groom’s bank, so probably the following week.

In the August 20, 1942 issue of Groom News, an advertisement shows various businesses' congratulations on Goff Theatre being the first 16mm theatre in TX. Opened on August 20 or August 21, 1942.

June 3, 1943 may be the last listing of Goff’s Theatre. There’s an article saying it’s under new management. Perhaps it closed soon thereafter or it became known as the Groom Theatre.
