White Palace Theatre

The 1914 Sanborn shows ‘Moving Pictures’ being shown in a small one-story brick building, part of a row of storefronts built sometime before 1899. The 1906 map shows this space as a millinery. The 1914-1915 edition of American Motion Picture Directory lists the White Palace Theatre.

This would have been a very small theatre, and since the town had just reached its peak of a bit over 1,000 people, it had closed by 1926.

There was once a small downtown of one and two-story brick buildings on the half block north of Freemont Street (then spelt Fremont), but all of it was long ago demolished, and it’s impossible to even guess at an address.
