The cinema was established in 1957 at the initiative of the diamond man Aharon Landa. The architects of the building were Haim Panchal and Shmuel (Sam) Barkai, who designed a building in the international style, with about 1,300 seats, a large stage and sophisticated make-up and dressing rooms. The building was one of the most important symbols of the city and it was also where shows and ceremonies were held

In 2003, a proposal was made to turn the complex into a cinema and an urban cultural center. In 2008, the finance committee of the municipality of Netanya approved a special budget intended for the purchase of the building and renovation. But the cinema remained abandoned.

In 2021, the Marathon Fund and the Itzik Tshuva Group purchased the cinema complex

The developer will preserve the building in a new tower complex
