Russia Cinema

The Russia Cinema (or Rossiya Cinema) is one out of three movie houses currently operating in the city of Saransk (although Saransk did have movie houses before that), but the area of Mordovia did have a true history of cinemas.

The Russia Cinema opened its doors on February 14, 1989 featuring both a blue hall, a smaller red hall, and a newsreel hall.

The blue hall had a total capacity of 800 seats when it opened, and featured original installations of four stationary KPK-30 film projectors, three universal film displays for both 35mm and 70mm films (via FST-2), and special V-10 installations with Xenon lamps. There are also four remote controls named 55 PDU-1.

The red hall has an unknown capacity of seats but it was smaller. Films in that auditorium were displayed on a matte white perforated EBM-P screen. There are three 23-PDA projectors that only run 35mm films.

There is also a newsreel hall with a capacity of 60 seats, with the seats made by the Valmiera furniture factory in Lithuania. The projectors are “Ukraine-5m” with a rewinder produced by the Odessa plant “Kinap”.

On August 29, 2016, the Russia Cinema was remodeled.
