Opera House

Pocahontas' City Hall was constructed in 1895, and contained an Opera House on the second floor. The structure is a very nice little brick Victorian building, with a little tower to one side.

By about 1914-15, movies were shown here, but the Opera House disappears from listings by 1926. The 1930 map shows the upper floors converted to a shirt factory.

City Hall has moved, and this building, like many of the remaining structures, is in poor shape, and vacant.
