Built in 2002 in the old Dole canning factory, this megaplex is all stadium seating. Fits right in with the rest of the entertainment in the old building with restaurants and entertainment venues.
Operated by the Signature Theatres chain, and since taken over by Regal Theatres. The main lobby and entry forecourt celebrates the site’s Hawaiian heritage with its twenty foot abstracted palm leaf light sculpures forming a canopy over the entire lobby. Side walls are adorned with backlit Hawaiian quilt motifs and native woods complement imported marble wainscoting. Auditorium sidewalls feature palm leaf patterned acousical fabric panels. A ‘Critics Corner’ specialized concession offers gaumet beverages and food. This award winning retrofit was designed by native Hawaiian, Dan Uesugi of Uesugi Associates, theatre specialists from San Francisco.

Aloha!
Is the new digital projector a DLP projector?
The Dole Cannery 18 was designed by the San Francisco architectural firm Uesugi & Associates, who designed at least a dozen projects for the Signature Theatres chain before it was taken over by Regal. The lead architects were Daniel Uesugi and his daughter Erin, who was responsible for the interior designs. The Dole multiplex has 4000 seats. It opened in May, 1999.
They are installing one of the mini-IMAX setups at the Dole Cannery 18.
The Honolulu theatre section advertises FRIDAY THE 13th in “Big Screen” in one of their two auditoriums so I guess the Dole Cannery is now set up for IMAX.
