Photograph of auditorium showing the Art Deco screen and proscenium areas being the reason for the whole design emphasized by making it the focal point towards which all lines, such as ceiling beams, ribs, cornices enriched bands converge, complete with a pair of etched glass octagonal cameos featuring nude female dancers, highlighted in gold. The walls generally are covered with a richly coloured material of modern design, serving a dual purpose, firstly as a decorative motif and secondly renders perfect acoustics within the whole auditorium. Below, the deep blue dado harmonises with the colouring of the seats, the end standards finished with gold entwined GB lettering also Gaumont carpeting fitted by Turners Ltd of Birmingham. Special attention should be paid to all the light fittings, those leaning from their wall fixings each contain three opal glass cylinders supported on a brilliant vertical vermillion and gold rod projecting beyond the face of the wall, contrasting to the decorative scheme behind, additionally two rows of concealed lighting and eight large stepped laylights complete the lighting decoration, for which Pride Ltd London were responsible in their manufacture and installation.
