The Parkair (not Parkaire) drive-in reopened on July 20th, 1955 after adding a new screen, snack bar, new owners, etc. Another grand opening ad posted.

The Hi-Park Drive-In theatre opened on March 15th, 1950 with “Bagdad”. Grand opening ad posted.

The Oct. 23, 1954 issue of Boxoffice had a full-page story, with photos and a diagram, of the “air conditioning” system invented by C. H. (Buck) Weaver Jr. An evaporative cooling system cooled the whole viewing field by up to 12 degrees, but only when there was a breeze from the south.

Billboard, Oct. 2, 1954: “A Shetland pony is being given away each Monday night at Hi-Park Drive-In, San Antonio, reports Carlton H. Weaver Jr., manager.”

Billboard, Nov. 20, 1954: “Ezell & Associates, Dallas, has taken over operation of Hi-Park Drive-In, San Antonio, formerly owned by Carlton H. Weaver.”

Yes it opened has the HI PARK DRIVE-In and parked 550 cars and was owned in 1956 by C.H.Weaver.

The Parkaire has been closed since 1964 or thereabouts. Here is a 1955 aerial photo:

If you go to a small Burger restaurant right across the street from where it was, they have a picture of the old Park-air Drive-In in their window. Nothing fancy, just the lettering of Park-air in signature lettering with Theatre in front of the mural.
