Aztlan Theatre

Opened as the Santa Fe Theatre on November 2, 1927 with Bert Lytel in “Women’s Wares”. Originally seating 1,146 it was equipped a Moller 3 manual, with 754 pipes organ. The style was a Mission Revival when it first opened. It stopped showing films in the late-1970’s. It has since opened as a rock concert venue. It features a mix of rock bands and Mexican bands.

The theatre is in very bad shape with some of the front stores boarded up. The façade has been partially painted in a pale pink. The old Santa Fe vertical sign is still hanging but not in use. The original marquee has been removed and a flat attraction panel is against the front façade over the entrance way. The old poster cases have been boarded in and painted yellow. It is sad to see what was once a beautiful theatre let go like this one has.
