You can see part of the building and the marque of this already closed theater taken in 1940. You have to zoom in on the photo and it’s all the way to the right. –> http://nycma.lunaimaging.com/luna/servlet/s/88ujc0

My guess would be that the cost to upgrade for sound pictures wasn’t deemed a worthwhile investment to the owner.

A warehouse of some kind is currently located at 308 Sheffield Ave. The NYC Building Dept shows a New Building permit issued and cancelled in 1915. No c of o information is available.
