The Sunset Drive-In was located on Highway 62 East. It was opened in 1960 and closed in 1983 and never reopened. The screen tower and concession stand were left to rot. I was at this location in 2000 and there was very little left of the screen and concession. The box office was torn down and the marquee was gone.
The drive in showed B-grade first run films in the 1970’s with titles such as “Great Texas Dynamite Chase”, “Piranha”, and “The Van”. In the winter months, the drive-in stayed open showing X-rated films. The drive in would show mainstream films but only as second-run.

The Sunset Drive-In opened in 1960 with an address for the theatre of 3209 E. Shawnee Ave., Muskogee, Ok.
Car capacity in 1975 was 300.
The original owners were my grandparents, Otis and Thelma Branson. Back then, it was very family oriented and a wonderful place to go.
