This theater opened in 1907, originally called Spier’s Theatre, located on Broad Street. The architect was Charles E. Oelschlager. Oelschlager returned in 1912, to enlarge and remodel the auditorium and backstage areas.
Later renamed the Plaza, the theater closed in 1955 and was later demolished. The Fumo Family Branch of the Philadelphia Public Library is on the site today.
