A portable drive-in? What a concept.
WEll,Is this a real theatre hat should even be on CT.
this drive in theatre never showed first run films, they showed all product from dvds and vhs tapes. there digital projection was awesome and the sound crisp and clear and you could hear the film for about 3 miles going towards the bay bridge when you left the drive in. the theatre featured a drive in size inflatable screen which presented the films very well. the rest rooms were located in the ball park and it was kinda cool to see a lightly lit ball field as you walked to the rest room. the concession stand had top notch food at low prices. maryland crab cakes and pit beef were awesome. when mr ackerman closed the theatre he took his operation to hagerstown maryland to take over the r/c theatres 10 plex and revived for a while the hager drive in theatre
It seems that this drive-in is located in the same place as the baseball team. This is what I found out. Alan J. Akerman is president of American Family Entertainment, of Eldersburg, Md. This year, Akerman is operating a portable drive-in at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Md. The stadium is home to the Bowie Baysox, an AA minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. When the team is on the road, Akerman has an agreement with Comcast-Spectacor to use the lot, which has space for 300 vehicles. A screen 40-feet wide and 50-feet high is inflated minutes before sunset. I guess that you could call this a “portable” drive-in.
The Bowie Baysox are a minor league baseball team…what’s their connection with the drive-in?
Are there any other cinemas influenced by baseball?
