Shut down for a year by the city. Philadelphia Inquirer story at http://www.philly.com/philly/news/local/20110617_Troubled_Feltonville_nightclub_will_stay_closed_for_a_year.html

The future of the “supper club” operation in the former theater is questionable after nine people were shot in the parking lot last weekend; Philadelphia’s mayor wants to shut it down. Philadelphia Inquirer story here.

I agree, but when youy say I copied the wrong photo, you imply there was some error on my part. Not the case.

If it’s not a photo of this theater then it is the wrong photo.

Not really. That photo was on the Felton page on the PAB site. I am curious to know where it belongs, though.

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose we don’t know to which theater that interior belongs, conversely.

Please note that the interior photograph posted on Aug. 15th by ken mc is not the Felton theatre. This same photo was incorrectly posted as the Felton many many years ago in The Consol magazine. The Felton was built on a long triangular lot with the stage at the narrow southern end. It made for a long pie shaped auditorium with the stage at the point.

If you look in Irv Glazer’s book “Philadelphia Theatres” on page 41, there is both an exterior and an interior photo of the Felton. When looking at that interior, you can see how well it takes advantage of the shape of the lot.

They had a concert there last night. Here’s an article dated last month.

How do you know that it’s still open? Any recent shows being advertised?

If it’s being used for live performances, the status should be open, not closed.

This is a nice recent shot of the Felton.

A Kimball organ was installed in the Felton Theater in 1926.
